| Public Coverage Programs
In the District of Columbia, three public coverage programs are available for those who can not afford private insurance and who meet predetermined eligibility requirements. The state Medicaid program is managed by the Medical Assistance Administration. The state SCHIP program within Medicaid is “DC Healthy Families.” For those who do not meet Medicaid eligibility requirements but are below 200 percent of the federal poverty level, the DC Healthcare Alliance program is available. The reports and data below provide information on these three programs. In addition, data is available on the federal Medicare program.
