Health insurance is the primary financial vehicle for obtaining access to quality medical care and for reimbursing providers who deliver care. The majority of District residents obtain health insurance through the private market, while many others are enrolled in public programs. Still, an estimated one in 10 residents remain uninsured. The following reports and data sets analyze the insurance market and the uninsured population. In addition, a number of reports are provided that discuss health insurance expansion options.
